I don’t generally comment on anything political, but I’m
making an exception with Prime Minister Gillard’s proposed cash
for clunkers scheme. If reelected she promises $2000 for all pre
1995 cars provided you upgrade to a NEW greener car. This is
simply political points scoring and again open to abuse. The
average person driving a car valued at less than $2000 could
simply not afford to buy a new car. The danger is, the smarties
who might pick up a wreck for a few hundred dollars, collect the
$2000 then buy the new car they were going to buy anyway. This
scheme if it comes into being will want to be better run than
the pink batts or school building projects.
